  • Second Half Stunner Leaves Bishop Needing Favours

    Mon 13 Jun 2016 dwilliams

An incredible finish from a Glan Yr Afon striker has left Bishop Childs needing favours if they are to catch league leaders Oakfield.

Bishop Childs started very quickly and stamped their authority on the game. Midfielder Aymen finished two goals beautifully to put the away team firmly in control. Galn Yr Afon passed the ball very well and caused the Bishop Childs' defence a lot of problems. Just before half time the home team pulled a goal back. A fair half time score.

The second half started with more impressive passing from the home side while opportunities to score were squandered by both teams. But midway through the second half the Glan Yr Afon number 7 hit a wonder strike that hit both cross bar and post. It was judged to have crossed the line.

The 2-2 draw leaves Bishop Childs' with a mountain to climb if they are to win the league. A victory against Oakfield this week however would put a lot of pressure on the leaders and swing momentum back in favour of Bishop.

  • Clinical Bishop Outclass Meadowlane

A dominant display from Bishop Childs against Meadowlane kept pressure on league leaders Oakfield in an exciting end of season run-in. The final score of 4-1 did not flatter the away team who looked fit, sharp and hungry from the first whistle.

Midfielder Aymen opened the scoring with a powerful header from Finley's excellent cross. Bishop Childs continued to dominate and it wasn't long before Corey was scoring his first of three goals. Luca had his best game of the season with a number of aggressive runs through the centre of midfield whilst man of the match Tom again bossed the defence with partner in crime Elliot.  Meadowlane did pull a goal back from the penalty spot to give the home side hope going into the half time break however the score line masked a very one sided opening half.

Bishop continued their dominance after the half time whistle with the addition of two new caps, Ollie and Santino. Both made strong runs and their accurate passing led to further goals from hit-man Corey who is surely now confirming his status as one of the leagues most prolific strikers. Recognition must also be given to team captain Fin who, at times, is unplayable and caused Meadowlane huge problems all afternoon.

This was a performance to give leaders Oakfield something to think about and all eyes will be on next week's game between the two local rivals.
