After a lackluster first half of post-holiday football, Bishop Childs edged home a classic local encounter 5-4 against an ever improving Rumney side.
Both teams had enjoyed a mid-season Easter break and in the Spring sunshine started the match like they were still on holiday! A scrappy first half saw some poor passing, goal keeping errors and dead ball action. The one spark being an absolute screamer of a goal from striker Corey. It's not often he misses the target and he left the Rumney goal keeper with no chance , finding the top corner. It was 2-2 at the break and a timely reminder for both teams that they were in a game of football.
The second half started far more brightly, and Rumney showed the quality that they had. Some slick passing and very neat finishing allowed them to race into a 4-2 lead and with 5 minutes to go they looked comfortable. It was at this point Bishop Childs began playing. Once again with captain Finley leading and the usual aggressive cameos from Aymen and Luca, the game was secured with some outstanding finishing - including a goal kick finish from Finley and rugged defending.
Bishop Childs' winning streak continues with all eyes now very firmly focused on an end of season title challenge.
