Wednesday - Outdoor PE - This term we will doing athletics. Yellow t-shirts and black leggings/joggers or shorts.

Homework will be given out on a Wednesday and will be an activity based on something we have been learning that week. Please bring it back the following Tuesday so it can be marked and ready to go out again on the Wednesday.

Reading books will also be changed every Wednesday.

Our new topic for the Summer Term is called 'Can you see me?' and will be all about Rainforests.

The children have come up with some very interesting questions to think about:

What would happen if the rainforest didn’t have a canopy?

Why are rainforests so far away from the UK?

What does the future look like for the rainforest?

Are there different types of rainforests and how are they different?

Which animals have become extinct in the jungle and how?

What happens to the animals when we take away their habitat?

Why do they take wood from important, protected areas (like the amazon rainforest), instead of unprotected forests?

Where in the world was the largest rainforest discovered and when was it discovered?

We have a visit to Bristol Zoo booked in, where we will be participating in a 'Rainforest Experience'. We also have the charity 'Size of Wales' coming in to deliver sessions on deforestation and protection of the rainforest.

Bromeliads of the Clouds

Marking 'Refugee Week' by writing letters full of empathy and compassion

Thank you Demi-May, Marley, Oliver and Isaac

Learning about fair tests and friction.

We visited St Mellon’s Hub to learn how the library works and to be issued with library cards.

Mixing colours

Visit to Caerleon

Investigating shadows. What do our shadows tell us about the position of the sun and the earth?

Year 4 have been pretending to be archaeologists. They searched for fragments of an object, then put them together. When they had worked out what it was, they then considered what it told them about daily Roman life.

Ordering the planets by size and working out which fruit would represent each planet.

During our visit to St Woolos Cathedral, we learnt about some of the history and traditions of this wonderful place of worship. The children were excited to see a painting of Bishop Childs!

This term year 4 have become journalists and have been reporting all about floods. We've looked at famous floods in the past, current floods in the news and we've even made up some fake news about Bishop Childs flooding! Look out for our news reports which are coming soon!

We've enjoyed both indoor and outdoor PE this term. We finished our football sessions last week with a big tournament made up of 8 teams from year 3 and 4.
