Welcome to Year 1!



Year 1 Class Information

We have a very exciting year planned for you. We have lots of new activities and lots of new skills to learn.


P.E. is set for Wednesday and Friday. Please bring your P.E. kit, T-shirt, shorts/leggings and trainers. 


Reading books and homework will be given out each Wednesday. Please make sure book bags and reading books are in school each day.


All homework set will focus on skills we have been learning in class. Please encourage your child to complete home learning.





Year 1 Wedding - 4.7.19

As part of our 'Under the sea' context, Year 1 have been exploring food chains and what animals that live under the sea need to survive. Here are some food chains that we made ourselves!

Year 1 have had a busy afternoon making their sea turtles, as part of our 'Under the sea' context.

We hope that you all had a great half term break! Our context this term is 'Under the sea'.

Year 1 had a fantastic day out at Newport Wetlands. We learnt lots about mini beasts and saw them in their habitats, and went pond dipping. We found some very interesting creatures!

We hope that you all had a lovely Easter break! Our context for this half term is 'Minibeast Madness'.

We hope that you have all had a great half term. Our context this half term is 'Dragon Tales'!

Year 1 have spent this half term looking after their beanstalks and helping them to grow. We hope you continue to enjoy looking after them at home!

Well done to Year 1 for their fantastic Class Worship on Wednesday.

Year 1 had an exciting day out at Margam Park, learning more about our favourite fairy tales!

Year 1 have been planting their own bean seeds. We are all excited to care for our seeds and watch them grow into plants.

Year 1 have been coming up with some fantastic WOW words to describe some fairy tale characters.

Happy new year! We have a lot of exciting things planned for the Spring term and we can't wait to get started!

Year 1 have been making their own Christingles to celebrate the start of Advent. We hope you enjoy lighting your Christingles at home and celebrating with us.

Year 1 have been making angel peg dolls this week, and using their maths skills to work out how much to sell them for at the Christmas fair. They look fantasic!

Year 1's Baptism with Father John (15.11.18).

In Year 1 this week, we have been learning about Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies. The children worked so hard to create a poppy wreath to share with the rest of the school during our Remembrance service today (9.11.18).

Year 1 had a fantastic day learning about the past at St Fagans.
